I recall reading a story about the Macho Man on some internet forum from a guy whose father worked for the WWF. The story went that the dude’s father was always good friends with the Macho Man, so any time the Macho Man was in town he would have dinner at their house. One would assume the characters these wrestlers portray are simply that, characters. But no, the Macho Man was head and shoulders above the rest. He was no character. Randy Poffo became the Macho Man. The person known as Randy Poffo was only a distant memory. The point here being, of course, that the Macho Man didn’t break character. Even at the dinner table with friends. I forget all the details of the story, but I do know it ended with this gem:

“THIS IS SOME GOOD CHICKEN, OOOHHHHHHHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH”

There may have been some flexing involved.
